In May 2015, the Alabama Legislature passed HJR 75, establishing an official Alabama Craft Beer State Championship. We are excited to announce that Florence, Alabama will host this event! Judging will happen in mid August and the winners will be announced on September 9th at the Alabama Craft Beer Festival in Florence, Alabama! Our mission is to promote commercial brewers in the state of Alabama while showcasing the best beers our great state has to offer!

Saturday's "Penny Beer" Garden
On Saturday September 9th, 2017, from 2-5 PM (VIP Ticket holders enter @ 1PM), is the second annual "Penny Beer" Garden in downtown Florence on Mobile Plaza! The street will be closed to traffic and there will be a variety of approximately 75 beers available for tasting. Each sample will only cost one penny! There will be live music, food vendors, and breweries will have tents set up along the street! Attendees will be able to approach their favorite breweries and ask questions regarding their favorite beers. Cost of the event is $40.

VIP and Brewers Awards Luncheon
September 9th at 11:00 am
Prior to the commencement of the Alabama Craft Beer Festival, in partnership with Florence Tourism, we will host the 2017 VIP and Brewers Awards Luncheon. Brewers from across the state will receive medals and recognition as the results from the Alabama Craft Beer State Championship are announced.
Complimentary food and beer.

About the Championship:
On August 19th, out-of-state BJCP certified judges will gather in the shoals to judge beers from breweries all over the state. Brewmasters will accumulate points for each medal winning beer. All medal winners, Best of Show winners, and Brewmaster of The Year will be announced at the Alabama Craft Beer Festival in Florence on Saturday, September 9th, 2017. All beers are judged according to the style specified by the brewer on the entry form. World Beer Cup 2017 Style Guidelines will be used.
